How often do you bill?

Customers are billed once per month, usually on the last day of the month.  Bills are available in either hard copy or by e-mail.  If you would like your bill e-mailed contact us at or call 406-844-3881.

Can I pay my water/sewer bill on-line?

Visit our website at and click on “Pay My Bill”. You may pay your bill by clicking on the “Pay My Bill” amount.  If you have questions, please contact the LCWSD office at 406-844-3881.

Can I make payments on my water/sewer bill?

Yes, terms are made on a case-by-case basis.   Please contact our office at 406-844-3881.

What are my payment options?

On-Line – LCWSD is pleased to offer this convenient and quick way to make on-line payments. We accept Visa, Master Card, or Discover credit/debit cards. To access this service, go to our website at and click on “Pay My Bill”.

By Phone – Credit/debit card payments can be made by calling 406-844-3881 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

ACH – An Automated Clearing House (ACH) payment is simply the electronic transfer of funds from one account to another.  ACH payments are an easy, secure way to ensure your bill is paid in a timely manner.  To set up an ACH account, complete the ACH Authorization form and e-mail it to or fax to 406-844-3996.

Mail or In Person – Cash, check, or money order payments can be made at our District office at 253 Bierney Creek Road in Lakeside.  Check and money order payments can be mailed to the District office at 253 Bierney Creek Road, Lakeside, MT  59922.   Please make your checks payable to LCWSD.

Drop Box – For your convenience, a drop box is located in the entry way of the First Interstate Bank in Lakeside.  Do not deposit cash in the payment drop box.  Paying by personal check or money order is much more secure and makes the possibility of missing payments less likely.  Please allow 5 business days for payment processing.

Is my meter actually read or is it estimated?

Most meters are read from a computer in our truck as the operator drives by.  We have recently started replacing meters with “virtual network” meters that provide a signal from a cell tower.  We are able to monitor usage every 24-hours with these types of meters. There are times when we do not get a read.  In these instances, the usage is estimated based on past history.  Operators are then sent out to identify and correct the problem.

How much notice is required to turn water off/on?

Please give us at least 24 hour notice.

Why is my bill so high?

Leaks are often the culprit and a toilet leak is a common type.  A single running toilet can quietly waste hundreds of gallons in a single day.  Fortunately, repairing toilet leaks is usually easy and inexpensive.  Checking for leaks elsewhere in your plumbing system might reveal other sources of water loss (see How to Detect Leaks under Conservation).  In many cases, high bills are a result of increased water usage.  Changes in outdoor usage, such as lawn watering, are usually responsible for large increases.  Reading your meter before and after watering can help determine how much water is being used.  See Tips for Conserving Water for other ideas on conserving water.  Although our meters are read with a high degree of accuracy, errors do occur.  If you suspect an error, please call our office at 406-844-3881; we will gladly check the reading and adjust your billing, if necessary.

I won’t need water and sewer services for an extended period.  Can I temporarily suspend my water and sewer service?

Water service can be temporarily turned off at the “curb stop”.  However, you will always be responsible for the base fee for water and sewer.  The purpose of these base rate charges is to ensure a proportional distribution of operation and maintenance costs to each user, as well as any other factors the District may deem pertinent in setting a fair and equitable rate.  Even though absent property owners have no usage there are still maintenance and fixed costs involved.  Therefore, the District has a base rate plus a usage rate. The base rate is a fixed amount, paid monthly, and the usage rate depends on the usage per month. Residents that are absent for an extended period, and don’t use any water, will only be charged the base rate.
